
We do a lot of back work in Pilates but spinal extension has to be my favourite.
My back tends towards a hunched posture, with tension, tech and tiredness all conspiring to pull my shoulders forward and head and neck down.
Extension is exactly what’s needed to wake up and strengthen the back and neck muscles and also stretch the abdominals and open up the front of the body so I can stand tall again!

- Extension over ball and curl up
- Cat / extended cat
- Roll back with extension
- Dart with floating arms
- Cobra
Don’t forget to finish off with rest position!!
